Frequently Asked Questions

Q.

I want to change my shape and my weight distribution on my body---is that possible with an exercise and nutrition program?

A.

Yes, to some degree you can change your shape and how you look with specific targeted exercises and nutrition.  Interestingly enough, your measurement changes present themselves in a magnified way when viewed---for instance, if you take 1 inch off your waist and add 1 inch to your shoulders, it appears that you took 2 inches off your waist.

Q.

I am in good shape and exercise and eat fairly well.  Can I still expect to see improvements through changes in my diet and exercise program---will I see improvements faster or slower if I am already healthy and in good shape?

A.

The fact that you are already healthy and in good shape will help your body to respond to various changes in nutrition and exercise, so you should see results fairly quickly, depending on your objectives.  Being in relatively good physical shape/health when starting a program will not make it harder or slower to achieve your objectives!

Q.

I would like to lose some weight; can we do that by diet alone or do I also need an exercise program?

A.

Some weight loss can be achieved by diet alone, however, to achieve good health while also obtaining your weight loss goals, it is best to consider both a nutrition and exercise program together.

Q.

I would like to gain some weight in specific areas to obtain a more balanced body/physique---how do I accomplish that?

A.

To achieve that objective, we would look at putting together a weight resistance program along with a diet that promotes development of lean muscle in the targeted areas.

Novice Exercisers

Q.

If I have not exercised in a long time, should I get a physical before starting a serious exercise program (and/or diet)?

A.

In general, you should have a physical, with blood work, every 1-2 years to establish a good health baseline and to identify any health trends or conditions that may develop.  I recommend getting a physical before starting an exercise program or diet program if you have not had one in the last year or two.

Q.

I am not experienced with exercising with weight equipment, so what are the chances I may get injured or hurt myself?

A.

With a good fitness coach, no matter what your experience, your coach will ensure that your workout is designed to meet your physical condition, experience level, goals and objectives. With this approach, there is little risk of getting injured when exercising with weight equipment.

Checking on Progress

Q.

How do I check my progress with a fitness and/or diet program?

A.

We will monitor your progress through periodic check-ins with a combination of measurements and can also do visual comparisons.  Depending on your own situation, these check-ins can be weekly, bi-weekly or monthly.

Competition

Q.

I would like to compete in weightlifting contests or physique contests—can you help me with that preparation?

A.

Yes, I am very experienced with both strength developing programs and physique programs.
